Behind all the stage lights and make-up that a company puts on to present themselves in the best light, it really is all about people and whether they can help and whether they will be there when you really need them.

Danny Shorten is  Cat III ISO 18436 pt4 certified and compliant trainer. He also holds the ICML MLE qualification and the Institute of Asset Management certification. He is a time-served mechanical engineer and has worked for over 40 years in General industry and Marine engineering activities with major independent lubricants manufacturers and the world’s leading classification society.

As a human, husband, father, engineer, and electric bass player, he is creative and yet technically driven. As an engineer, he retains retain much of the childlike interest in how things work and how to fix them, or preferably to make sure they don’t break in the first place. For him, it’s really a passion to be involved in this area of engineering support.

“I started via a trade apprenticeship in mechanical engineering and then progressed via part-time and evening studies to become a qualified engineer at IEng. I have worked in an industrial lubricants role supporting lubricant development programmes and operating oil and vibration analysis contracts and also in a classification role as lead specialist in the area of maintenance management and condition/risk-based maintenance.

I continue to be involved with core industry groups such as the IMech E Tribology Committee, BiNDT lubrication and general condition monitoring committees and act through to ISO as UK expert for lubricant based Condition Monitoring, where we are now embarking upon mature candidacy route for a general condition monitoring qualification and also a CM apprenticeship scheme.

I like to look at problems in a different way and seek new solutions.

I might not have all the answers but I will know someone who does!

As a result, we have developed collaborative relationships with a number of expert providers in complementary fields.

I would love it if you got in touch and had a discussion to see if we can help you.
